Dexter Payne Quintet returns to Caffe Sole… with a wrinkle and a twist, a glitch and a twinkle.  Many groups these days automatically think in reduced numbers, largely due to economics of being a musician and an American at the same time. But not this week.

The Quintet will be joined by extraordinary vocalist Elena Camerin Young. The Quintet features  Dexter with Dave Willey (accordion), Victor Mestas Perez (piano), Raoul Rossiter (drums/percussion) and Khabu Doug Young (guitar/cavaq/uke). Line up and get a seat before 7pm for this long overdue return of Brazilian choro jazz and jazz forro to South Boulder’s finest jazz supper club.

The group will feature selections from their two recordings, Pra Voce – 4 stars in DownBeat, and Jazz for All – feat. Elena Camerin Young. (On a side note, Dexter is now sporting his his “brand new” 68 yr old clarinet, purchased and overhauled thanks to an amazing community, including Caffe Sole regulars and staff.)
